A delegation from the China International Import Expo (CIIE) Bureau will visit Auckland, the capital of New Zealand, on Dec 7 to promote next year's edition of the expo.

Headed by Sun Chenghai, deputy director general of the CIIE Bureau, the delegation will meet with representatives from local businesses and hand out invitations.

With the growth of China's economy and the continuous development of bilateral trade, the two countries currently enjoy a multi-faceted economic and trade cooperation.

More than 60 New Zealand companies participated the second CIIE this year where they occupied an area of more than 6,300 square meters, an increase of 22.3 percent compared with the inaugural edition. 

As New Zealand’s largest trading partner, China is also the oceanic country’s top export market and source of imports.

Official statistics show that in 2018, bilateral trade totaled $16.86 billion, of which New Zealand's exports to China were valued at $11.08 billion.

The Business Exhibition at the next edition of the CIIE will comprise four themes - technology and equipment, consumer goods and intelligent life, food and agricultural products, and service and healthcare. 

Six exhibition areas will focus on trade in services, automobiles, consumer goods, intelligent industry and information technology, medical equipment and healthcare products, and food and agricultural products. 

The second CIIE concluded with $71.13 billion worth of tentative deals reached for one-year purchases of goods and services, a sharp rise as compared to last year.

More than 3,800 enterprises from 181 countries, regions and international organizations participated in this year's expo. Launched in 2018, the CIIE is the world's first import-themed national-level expo.
