this CIIE to host roadshow in Spain

About 40 Spanish companies exhibited a wide range of offerings, from Spanish ham to bluefin Tuna to flashy yachts, at the recently concluded second edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

A delegation from the CIIE Bureau will now visit Barcelona, Spain, on Dec 10 to promote next year's edition of the expo.

The delegation will meet with representatives from local businesses and hand out invitations.

China is Spain's largest trading partner outside the European Union. Over the years, the two countries have achieved significant progress in trade and economic cooperation, especially in areas of finance, telecommunication, new energy and tourism.

In 2018, bilateral trade between the two nations totaled $33.72 billion, up 9 percent year-on-year.

The Business Exhibition of the next edition of the CIIE will comprise four themes - technology and equipment, consumer goods and intelligent life, food and agricultural products, and service and healthcare.

Six exhibition areas will focus on trade in services, automobiles, consumer goods, intelligent industry and information technology, medical equipment and healthcare products, and food and agricultural products.

The second edition of the CIIE concluded on Nov 10 with $71.13 billion worth of tentative deals reached for one-year purchases of goods and services, a sharp rise compared to last year’s inaugural event.

More than 3,800 enterprises from 181 countries, regions and international organizations participated in this year's expo.

Launched in 2018, the CIIE is the world's first import-themed national-level expo.
